This series of work was inspired by my travels to England and love of studying what time does to time. I love broken windows, clocks and buildings. I love rust and what that process does to metal objects over time. Visiting abandoned buildings, I ponder at the beautiful effects caused by the lack of human intervention. Concrete and clay walls crumble, overtaken by nature’s vining plants. Wood slowly erodes in the wind and rain. Sun-bleached stained glass still creates color on the walls and floors. Even in its arrested development time affects what is left behind. Nothing ever stays the same. In the same way life is always trying to begin anew. Opportunistic fungus and moss take over to model a new space for life to thrive. The coming together of our abandoned detritus and life at the lowest level surging ever so slowly is time crashing against itself.
